Frequently asked questions

Everything merchants ask about enabling Back In Stock | SRP Script, placing the Notify Me widget, custom selectors, restock emails, follow-ups, and plans.

Getting started

Install the app, finish onboarding, and get live on your storefront.

Install Back in Stock from the Shopify App Store. After install, open the app and follow Setup Your App: choose a plan (paid plans include a 7-day free trial), configure email sender details, then enable the Notify Me widget. When you finish, you land on the Dashboard.

Onboarding walks through five steps — Welcome, Plan, Email, Widget, and Done. You can skip Email or Widget and configure them later from Settings and Widget Settings.

Yes. The app uses a Theme App Extension and app embed, so it works with Online Store 2.0 themes without editing Liquid by hand. You enable the embed once, then optionally place a Notify Me Button block on the product template.

Notify Me widget

Enable the button, place it with a CSS selector, and style the popup.

From the Dashboard, open App embed settings and enable Back In Stock | SRP Script in the theme editor, then save the theme. The app embed powers the storefront script. For precise placement on the product page, add the Notify Me Button block: Online Store → Customize → product template → Add block → search Back in Stock Notify Me → position it → Save.

Go to Widget Settings → Button Style → Customize. Set Button Position to Inline, then enter a CSS selector in Button Container Id (for example #AddToCart or .product-form__buttons). The app injects the Notify Me button into that element when the theme block is not used. If you are unsure which selector fits your theme, contact support and we can help set it.

You can place the button Inline on the product page, or as a fixed floating button: Right Center, Left Center, Right Bottom, or Left Bottom. Fixed positions do not need a CSS selector. Inline placement uses either the theme block or your custom selector.

Yes. In Widget Settings you can edit button text (before and after subscribe), colors, font size, border radius, and custom CSS. Popup Style Customization covers headline, body copy, button label, success and error messages, and colors.

Yes. In Widget Settings, add product tags in the hide-on-tags field (for example discontinued, seasonal), separated by commas. Tag those products in Shopify and the button will stay hidden on matching products.

Check these common causes: the app embed is Off; the current variant is in stock (the button only shows for unavailable variants); the product has a hide tag; Inline position is selected without a theme block and without a Button Container Id; the CSS selector does not match an element on the page; or you are not on a product page URL.

Emails & follow-ups

How restock emails are triggered, sequenced, customized, and delivered.

When Shopify updates inventory and a subscribed variant moves from out of stock to in stock, the app queues a first notification for waiting subscribers. Queued emails are sent automatically within a few minutes. Make sure Restock alert notification delivery is on in Settings, and that First Notification is enabled under Customer notifications.

In Settings → Customer notifications you can enable Second, Third, and Fourth Notification emails. After the first restock email, follow-ups are scheduled at roughly 24, 48, and 72 hours by default so interested shoppers get reminders. If the product goes out of stock again before a follow-up sends, that follow-up is cancelled.

Confirmation Email is an optional message you can enable under Customer notifications. It is meant to confirm that a shopper joined the waitlist when they subscribe. Turn it on if you want an immediate acknowledgement after signup.

Yes. In Settings you can set From Name and Reply-To, then open Customize email templates to set logo, logo width, and accent color. Each template (confirmation and first through fourth notification) can be previewed, edited, tested, or reverted to the default. Templates support variables such as product name, variant, price, product URL, shop name, and unsubscribe link.

Paid plans support sending from your domain. Open Settings → Customize Sender Details and use Contact us with the subdomain you want to connect (for example mail.yourstore.com). Our team configures sending for you — it is not fully self-serve DNS inside the app.

Each restock or follow-up email successfully sent to a subscriber counts toward your monthly notification quota. Waitlist subscriptions themselves are unlimited on every plan. Dashboard usage shows how many notifications you have used.

Confirm Restock alert notification delivery is on, First Notification is enabled, and your plan still has remaining notification quota. Emails only queue when inventory transitions from out of stock to in stock — already-in-stock updates do not re-notify. Check Notification logs in the app. A short delay of a few minutes after restock is normal.

Delivery & settings

Controls for when and how notifications go out, plus reporting.

Under Settings → Notification Delivery Policy you can set a delay before sending, a minimum available quantity, emails sent per unit in stock, notification priority (newest or oldest subscribers first), and a delivery interval. Use these to match how quickly you want waitlists notified when stock returns.

Yes. In Settings, turn off Restock alert notification delivery. Customers can still join the waitlist from the storefront, but restock emails will not be sent until you turn delivery back on.

In Settings → Summary reports you can get subscribe alerts on a Daily, Weekly, or Monthly schedule, choose which email receives them, and pick the lookback window (for example last 7 days). This helps you monitor waitlist activity without checking the Dashboard constantly.

Order attribution links purchases back to restock emails so you can see recovered revenue. Enable it in Settings and set an attribution window (default 30 days, up to 60). Dashboard insights use this to show attributed orders and recovered demand.

Plans & billing

Trials, quotas, and what is included on each plan.

Demo is free with 50 notifications per month. Launch is $19/mo for 500 notifications, Scale $39/mo for 2,000, and Pro $49/mo for 10,000. All plans include unlimited subscribers, customizable widget and emails, follow-ups, activity reports, and priority support. Yearly billing is available at a discount on paid plans.

Yes. Paid plans include a 7-day free trial through Shopify billing. You can also use the Demo plan with a smaller monthly notification limit to try the full experience.

When you use all notifications included in your plan, further restock emails stop until the next billing period or you upgrade. The Dashboard shows usage and an Upgrade link so you can move to a higher plan from Pricing.

Support

Where to get help if something is not working.

Email support@srpscript.com with your shop domain and a short description of the issue. For custom domain sending or help choosing a CSS selector for your theme, include those details and we will assist.

Use the Dashboard for embed status, notifying status, and notification usage. Open Subscriptions and Products for waitlist data, and Notification logs for send history when troubleshooting delivery.
